Melamine dishware

When my daughter began to sit at the family table, I've first trusted her with regular tableware ... Then I started to collect melamine dishes so she could also enjoy nice dishware without causing any irreparable damage. Instead of having a complete set I founded more pleasant to mix and match pieces.
I have got most of these melamine crockery from Monoprix in France. Their summer collection is very nice with its shape inspired from plastic and foil take away dishes. The dots ones are part of their permanent collection.
The long spoons and the fushia cup are from the well-known brand Rice that makes a such wide range of products. These can be bought in Geneva at: La Boîte à Malices, Kids Planet, Duo sur Canapé, Famous Ape, UBF Doudou & Cie, Envie de Fraise.

Illustrations from the 70's

One of my great pleasures when visiting my parents, comes from random objects that suddenly recall bits of my childhood. Here I had the chance to find these Nathan loto and dominoes games edited in 1979 ! You know how conforting it is to see again images that surrounded your child world. Then I realised that you cannot find such nice pictures game anymore. How come we don't have high quality illustrations for kid's game anymore ? They were so simple, refreshing and yet amusing. This being said, I have to mention that Vilac do feature the cool illustrator Nathalie Lété on a selection of their games.

Look Coco 01

Because it takes so long to get dress with style each day, when I think I have something worth it, I take a picture and pin it down for a less inspired morning ! This is how I started to collect Polaroïds of my outfits. Now I've passed on that concept to my daughter's dressing. This also helps my husband to dress her when I'm not around. It's going to be so fun to look at it in a few years ! Thanks Weep for reminding me :-)

My lovebird

I like smart and functional design but when it comes to kid's stuff, poetry seems essential to me. Either the design or the colors and patterns have to make me smile, satisfy my eyes and beautify life. I've made that bucolic lampshade for my daughter's room. Colorful birds are swinging on a cage adorned with ribbons, bows and beads while the butterflies are wriggling with two vaporous Japanese fishes.
Afterward, I discovered Mathieu Challières' lamps in Ploum's window in Carouge, Geneva and loved it. But my true inspiration came from Tamar's lovely whimsical dream catchers that I discovered on Etsy a year ago. I also recently found that Tamar Mogendorff was creating something in that spirit as well and her birdcages are on sale at Little Home, Geneva. The printed paper I used is from Petit Pan, Paris.

Coline

This week-end was my sister's 23rd birthday. Also since she's behind that idea of me setting a blog, I'm going to take the opportunity here to show a piece of her work. I very much like her drawings but my favorites are the "bibi's" she's made. Coline has been studying visual communication and I believe she's talented. She lives in Paris for now but she wants to move out and set up a screen print graphic studio on the Altlantic coast. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, all my best wishes of success and happiness to you Coline !

"Hangerknob"

I cannot remember if I've seen this somewhere or if I got the idea all by myself, but now it feels like it came from me (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, screwed in the wall, these romantic "hangerknob" are a stylish way to display and store, at the same time, a nice outfit. The green dress on the picture, for example, was a gift from my mother but it came in size 24 months when my daughter was only 8 months old ... At least I enjoy looking at it everyday picturing how wonderful my baby will look in it !
I got the ceramic doorknobs at Zara Home in Lyon, France.
The dress Antik Batik is from last year collection, my mom bought it on sale at Million Dollar Baby store in Nantes, France.

Schleich figurines

The famous Schleich figurines that populate our family dollhouse first came to life in the 1950's. At that time the company was making comic figurines (The Smurfs, Snoopy, The Muppet Show characters, ...) then they added animal figurines to their range of products and consequently extended this area. I find their realistic design very educational and the animal's handpainting is beautifully done. The production itself takes place at the company's German headquarters but the figurines are unfortunately made in China.
You can find the Schleich figurines in almost every toy store in Carouge and Geneva: Chat Botté, Franz Carl Weber, King Jouet, ...

La maison de Colette

Colette's house is all set up now. It has been hand made by her grand father for his daughter Louise 25 years ago and we thought it deserved to be brought back to life. We made a few arrrangements, removed the dusty wallpaper and painted all in clear beige. I had in mind the Momoll dollhouse that I love, ours is not that perfect but it is a family house.
The Momoll dollhouse is available at the great kid's design store LittleHome, Geneva Switzerland and also online at kidslovedesign.
