Go Sylvanian !

The new Sylvanian Family collection finally arrived at Le Chat Botté boutique ! I was expecting them to join Colette's doll house. As you might know, these collectible toy plush figures are grouped into families featuring woodland creatures such as beavers, hedgehogs, mice and bears (the word 'sylvan' means 'of the forest').
Despite their anglosaxon lifestyle, Sylvanian Families are actually from Japan originally and were developed back in 1984 by a Japanese company called Epoch and distributed worldwide by a number of companies. By 1988, Sylvanian Families had become a major success around the world, spawning an American animated television series (co-produced in France and Japan), and winning the British Association of Toy Retailers award for "Toy of the Year" three years consecutively, in 1987, 1988 and 1989. Very charming.
