Wild life on my fridge

I've been looking for nice and educational magnets to put on our fridge for Colette to play with. I had in mind the leafs and flowers ones drawn by Nathalie Lété (edited by Vilac) that I loved but I finally choose the Wild animals that I discovered then. The magnets are made out of wood and they come in a box (7 different themes available). The editor Editions Piccolia, created in 1991, are part of the Bonnier AB media group based in Sweden and they specialised in publishing children’s books but also offer a wide range of activity books that are not my favorites. Nevertheless, the quality of the magnet illustration is great and the details very lively and realistics: you'll find the lion quietly lying with its baby, the panda casualy eating bamboo, ... Available at King Jouet.
Along my way, I found out that Nathalie Lété created some "Fridge jewelry" that happened to be exquisite magnetic illustrations ! Available at the online shop Les Fleurs while the Leaf and flower set is now at Little Home, Geneva.

Baby Version Rock

I had the chance to run into this lovely store during it's opening party in Barcelona ! How lucky and greatful I was to discover the French brand Baby Version Rock. Based in Barcelona since 2003, that was the inauguration of their first monobrand store. I also met Murielle Cohen, the mom-designer. The story says that the home made collection was initially not supposed to be repeated and sold, but the best kids stores saw it and it went into production.
Because nothing was rock enough for her son Sacha when he was born, Murielle created something “rock” in a “baby version”. I very much like the idea of letting the kid's wear black just as well. The miniature collection rock, bohemian and glamour for boys & girls from three months to twelve years is not mass-produced and each piece has its own touch. Me, I went crazy for the "Lucky top" and the coton white "Bobo" pants. The styles are simple, season less and they keep it rock !

Look Coco 03

Today, Colette is wearing blue to match the sky and her eyes !
The cotton skirt is turquoise blue with a large elastic waist and three flat folds at he bottom. H&M
What you can't see on the picture is the very nice embroiderie on the front of the shirt. I like the subtil Indian touch, the deep blue and the embroided complex pattern. DPAM
At her feet, the babies are from that great shoe maker that is Tip Toey Joey. You can read their story on their website.

BOOK I love Mouk

Mouk is a sweet bear, created by Marc Boutavant, that happens to leave Paris for a trip around the world. I love every page of this book. The author is also a graphic artist and he has illustrated numerous young people’s books with Albin Michel, Actes Sud junior, Nathan, Seuil jeunesse and Mila. I love his style of drawing: joyful with wildly bright and strong color but yet with a very graceful touch. I was happy to find out that Mouk had more adventures (or non-adventure here in "Mouk s'ennuie un peu... " (Mila Boutan, 2002) and "Mouk s'habille" (Mila Boutan, 2002), and more ... Mouk is such a star that he also collaborated with DPAM, selling stickers in their stores and organizing, in 2008, a costume contest for kids. Marc is also working with Djeco - check out the cube game. One day soon, I'll be interviewing Marc so I'll keep you posted :-)

2010 feb. NEW CARTOON STARRING MOUK !
