Moitié éléments décoratifs, moitié jouets, ces statuettes sont en pin massif et peintes à la main. Je me dit que les fabricants de jouets pour enfants devraient s'inspirer du travail d'Alexander Girard. Né à New York et élevé à Florence, Alexander Girard (1907 - 1993) est un designer textile qui a travaillé pour Herman Miller dans les années 1950, 1960 et 1970 aux côtés de George Nelson et Charles Eames. Puisant son inspiration dans l'art populaire, ses créations ont un charme intemporel, de l'esprit et de l'originalité. At the showroom Structure 17, what caught my eye are these Wooden Dolls (1963) edited by Vitra. Half decorative element, half toy, they are solid pinewood hand painted statuettes. I think that manufacturers of toys for children should be inspired by this artistic work by Alexander Girard.
